Research Interests

I am a public historian and the focus of my research is local studies.

There are a number themes within this work: the wartime homefront, philanthropy and volunteering (active citizenship), conservative women’s organisations (Red Cross, Mother’s Union, Country Women’s Association) community identity, place, landscape, social structures (fabric), material progress and the country press.
